CONTRIBUTION TO the Community

working for a better Future

Cohoes has been dear to our heart since 1956

At Norlite, having a positive impact on the environment is as important as
contributing to the communities in which we operate.

OUR PEOPLE

Our people are our best asset to accomplish both goals.

Locally in Cohoes, we employ 70 heroes who provide an essential environmental service to our customers and make a product that makes buildings safer, more environmentally friendly, and more energy-efficient. Because we provide an essential service, our employees worked throughout the entirety of the pandemic.

Many of our employees have been sharing their passion for what they do from generation to generation, as we have third-generation Norlite employees. For years, Norlite has been collaborating with labor unions and offering broad employment opportunities, as well as training, development, benefits and satisfying career paths in science, technology, engineering, operations and maintenance, and administration.

SUPPORTING THE FUTURE OF COHOES

Supporting our future means taking care of the earth, but it also means supporting our new generations in their developmental journey. What children learn today will have a direct impact on their tomorrow, and it is part of our mission to promote equal development opportunities. Some of our efforts include partnering with local education and sports institutions.

EDUCATION

Inspiring and educating our youth is a passion that we proudly support by collaborating with local school districts’ Boards Of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in Cohoes. The Summer STEM Research Institute at Questar III BOCES is a program that provides secondary school teachers with an immersive, on-site experience at a partnering company during the summer time. Teachers enrich their knowledge and experience working alongside an industry professional mentor, which they take back to the classroom.

For two consecutive summers, we hosted Jenny Starr, a Green Island middle and high school science teacher, as she spent seven weeks discovering Norlite, learning more about our science, and getting involved in different projects.

SPORTS

We believe sports bring an exceptional opportunity for boys and girls to develop their social, physical, and mental skills outside of the classroom. For this reason, we partner with different local non-profit organizations with whom we share the same values and align with their mission.
